In Jalisco, if you don’t wear a mask in public or at recreational spaces, you could spend up to 36 hours in jail or receive a financial fine of up to 1,400 pesos.
This is what the Moreno state deputy Arturo Lemus intends, who proposed modifying the State Health Law. It only requires the approval of the plenary session for these measures to take effect.
Nineteen months after the first case of Covid-19 was detected in Jalisco, legislators could make its use mandatory, accompanied by sanctions to establishments that do not guarantee the use of it, and to citizens who decide not to use it in public spaces.
Among the actions that would be implemented is the mandatory use of face masks in all places, venues, public or private establishments, taxis, passenger transport service through mobile applications, and buses and trains.
Residents would face arrest of up to 36 hours, with the possibility of commuting the deprivation of liberty with up to eight hours of community service work, or a fine of up to 1,400 pesos.
