On Friday night, a transformer located in Villas Río park exploded, igniting a fire that alarmed nearby residents. Neighbors reported hearing a loud explosion before seeing the fire and quickly captured the incident on video and in photos.

Many attempted to contact emergency services by dialing 911 but were met with frustration as Puerto Vallarta’s system was down at the time.

Municipal Police arrived at the scene to assess the situation and called for the Fire Department. Firefighters responded promptly, extinguishing the fire and eliminating potential hazards. The Federal Electricity Commission was also notified to address the damaged transformer.
