Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus was met with boos and shouts during the inauguration of the first phase of the ISSSTE Regional Hospital in Tlajomulco, an event also attended by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Videos circulating on social media show attendees jeering and chanting “Lemus out” as the governor was announced. In contrast, Sheinbaum received cheers and chants of “president, president” upon her introduction.

Amid the tense atmosphere, Sheinbaum called for respect, urging the crowd to avoid political confrontations during the ceremony. “Today we are here to celebrate the inauguration of this hospital, not to talk politics. The elections were over a year ago—let’s respect each other,” she said.

Lemus, for his part, expressed gratitude to Sheinbaum, stating, “This state respects and admires you. My government—and all the people of Jalisco—will continue working hand in hand with our president.”
