Another building is adding to the problem that has afflicted the Versalles neighborhood for two years: the construction of some condominiums has caused thousands of liters of water to drain into public roads, flooding Hamburg and Liverpool streets, although the trail of water reaches Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard.
Alejandro Fernández, owner of a pastry shop on Hamburg street, said, “We woke up with the surprise that the four streets of Hamburg and Liverpool are completely full of water. Our clients are not able to pass. All that mud that is being generated is entering the premises. Yes, there is some discomfort. It just started today, and everything is already flooding. The water doesn’t stop coming. Clients have to go one block further down to get to our businesses.”
Since last year, the Drinking Water, Drainage and Sewerage System (Seapal Vallarta) has explained that the water table is very close to the surface in this area, so large buildings will encounter this situation.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Urban Development and Environment has not taken strong measures with the developers to prevent neighbors from being flooded.
Selene Castro, who owns a restaurant, said, “The restaurant is located in a corner. It is flooded like in the rainy season. Our premises are filled with mud. The cars are splashing. The entrance is dirty. It is the second time that they have drawn water, but this time it was bigger and worse.”
The building is on Liverpool Street. From an early hour, they placed a thick hose to drain the water from its construction.
Authorities have not appeared at the scene.
