The governors that make up the Federalist Alliance will insist before the federal government to authorize them to buy the vaccines against Covid-19, as they believe that there is no transparency in the national vaccination plan, and they want to ensure the vaccines for their states.

The leaders indicated, through the Federalist Alliance social network, that the intention is that the states can acquire the vaccines, and advance in the application of it in the country.

“The alliance maintains that, while the Government of Mexico has not been transparent regarding the National Vaccination Plan to say how, where, and when they will have access to it, the states must acquire the doses via Cofepris to give our people the certainty they need,” read the tweet in the official network of the Federalist Alliance, made up of the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Coahuila, Durango, Michoacán, Colima, Jalisco, Guanajuato, Chihuahua, and Aguascalientes.

The position comes a day after the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, announced that it is not legal or possible for states to purchase vaccines on their own, and warned that this request could have electoral overtones.

The 10 states of the Federal Alliance have 39.2 million residents, which is 31% of the country’s population. To immunize them all will need almost 80 million vaccines because they must be administered in two doses per person.
