Authorities in Puerto Vallarta are investigating a violent attack that took place last Thursday in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood, where a taxi driver was assaulted and dragged by multiple attackers. The incident occurred at the busy intersection of Constitución and Lázaro Cárdenas streets, an area well-known for its vibrant restaurants and nightlife.

Eyewitnesses reported that an altercation led to a group of unidentified individuals attacking the taxi driver. The attackers dragged him for a block before abandoning him on the street. Onlookers quickly notified authorities, who responded promptly along with emergency services.

The taxi driver was transported to a nearby hospital, though his current condition remains undisclosed. Authorities have not released his identity as they continue their investigation and notify his family.

Local police have sealed off the area to gather evidence and are requesting help from the public to identify the perpetrators. Nearby businesses’ surveillance footage is also being reviewed to assist in the investigation.

The incident has left residents of the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood shocked. “This area is generally safe, especially with so many tourists around. Hearing about this kind of violence is very unsettling,” said María López, a local shop owner.

This attack has raised concerns about safety in popular tourist areas, prompting questions about the effectiveness of current security measures. In response, authorities have vowed to increase police patrols and visibility in the neighborhood to reassure both residents and visitors.

Anyone with information about the attack is encouraged to contact the Puerto Vallarta Police Department.
