A mother in Bahía de Banderas is seeking justice after her daughter was severely beaten outside a high school in Puerto Vallarta’s Agua Zarca neighborhood. The attack, which occurred on February 10, was allegedly preceded by days of threats on social media and involved two students and an adult.
According to complaint 588/2025-J/D-VIII/AT filed with the Jalisco Attorney General’s Office, the incident stemmed from classroom bullying at Universidad de Especialidades (UNE). The victim, who had previously been hospitalized for chronic health conditions, was reportedly mocked by classmates who spread false rumors about addiction issues.
The situation escalated when one classmate made direct threats of physical violence. After an unsuccessful attempt to confront the victim on Friday, the aggressor returned Monday with another student and an adult. The attackers, who had changed into school uniforms, lured the victim outside the school where they assaulted her.
The victim suffered multiple injuries, including a head hematoma, trauma to the neck and spine, and various other wounds. The attack was recorded and circulated on social media.
In a meeting with school officials on February 12, the mother learned that the principal had been warned about the planned attack but took minimal action, merely asking the students “to please not do something stupid” rather than notifying parents or implementing protective measures.
Adding to the controversy, the school has suspended the victim and is considering expulsion, claiming the incident occurred outside school grounds. The mother plans to expand her legal complaint to include institutional negligence alongside the existing charges of assault and threats.
The case highlights serious concerns about bullying prevention and response protocols in local schools, as well as questions about institutional responsibility for student safety.
