A powerful storm took Puerto Vallarta by surprise tonight, bringing intense rain, strong winds, and dramatic lightning that have caused widespread disruptions across the city.

This storm, stronger than the one that hit two days earlier, unleashed severe electrical activity and heavy rainfall, leading to flooding on several major roads.

Among the hardest-hit areas is Francisco Villa Avenue, particularly at its intersection with Morelia Street, a frequent trouble spot during storms. Flooding has also been reported along Avenida México near Poetas, as well as on Avenida Politécnico Nacional and the main entrance road into the city.

In the Díaz Ordaz neighborhood, flooding has affected the newly renovated section of the entrance road near the IMSS clinic, where water entered multiple businesses and caused property damage.

Despite the intensity of the rain and wind, beach areas have remained relatively calm, and no major risk has been reported for coastal communities or tourist zones.

According to the latest forecast from the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the storm is tied to the effects of Tropical Storm Dalila, currently positioned off the central Pacific coast of Mexico. The storm’s impact is being intensified by low-pressure systems and a steady influx of moisture from the ocean.

SMN has warned that very heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and elevated surf are expected across Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and Nayarit in the coming hours.

Civil Protection authorities in Vallarta are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from flooded streets, and follow updates through official channels. So far, no serious injuries or major structural damage have been reported.

Rainfall is expected to continue overnight, and authorities are maintaining active monitoring in areas at risk of flooding or landslides.
