Heavy rains in Cabo Corrientes, triggered by an unstable weather system off the coast, have caused significant damage in the region. Authorities responded to multiple incidents following yesterday’s storm as they worked to manage the chaos left in its wake.

In the La Parota neighborhood, two vehicles were swept away by the strong currents of the Caganchi River but were later rescued by emergency responders. Additionally, two large trees fell along Federal Highway 200, impacting the stretch between El Tuito and Juntas del Sur.

Further complications arose on the road from El Tuito to Mayto, where three fallen trees and three landslides partially obstructed the roadway, although it remains passable for now.

The Tuito River overflowed on Argentina Street in the El Agüilote neighborhood, affecting approximately 15 homes. In Barrio Pobre, two homes were flooded with water reaching up to 15 centimeters, while a shop and a house in Las Pilitas also suffered damage, along with several streets in the area.

Additional reports indicated damage to a house in the Las Moradas neighborhood and another on Arrayán Street in Las Bodegas, as well as damage to a security booth in the Diconsa area.

As more rain is expected in the coming days, authorities have set up a temporary shelter in El Tuito to assist affected residents. Local officials are continuing to assess the damage and are providing support where needed.

Residents are urged to stay alert and follow the guidance of Civil Protection, as further precautions will be crucial in preventing additional damage.
