Search efforts resumed early Tuesday morning on Holy Beach, where a 16-year-old boy went missing on Monday afternoon while swimming near the mouth of the Pitillal River.
The incident was reported around 5:00 p.m. on Monday, prompting lifeguards to respond quickly to the scene. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, the boy was already out of sight.
The teenager, visiting Puerto Vallarta from Los Altos de Jalisco with his family, disappeared while swimming, swept away by the river’s current.
As darkness fell on Monday, lifeguards temporarily suspended the search but remained vigilant on the shore, continuing their efforts to locate the boy.
At 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, the search operation resumed with divers and boat patrols actively scanning the area.
The State Civil Protection and Fire Unit, along with the Search and Rescue Station of the 12th Naval Zone, is leading the coordinated efforts, conducting thorough patrols to find the missing teen.
Jorge Misael López Muro, the director of Civil Protection and Firefighters for the municipality, urged the public to take precautions to prevent similar incidents. He emphasized the importance of communicating with lifeguards, adhering to beach warning flags, and following the instructions of rescue personnel.
