SEAPAL Vallarta is set to modernize its internal laboratory with an investment of 18 million pesos, a project aimed at achieving certification and enhancing its facilities and services. The initiative is supported by the National Water Commission (Conagua), with SEAPAL contributing 60% of the funds and the federal agency covering the remaining 40%.

One of SEAPAL’s primary goals is to certify its laboratory, a step recommended by the Jalisco State Commission for Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Coprisjal). The modernization will involve the construction of a new, state-of-the-art facility at the North Treatment Plant II. The upgraded laboratory will feature dedicated sections for sampling and testing both drinking water and wastewater, ensuring compliance with current regulations.

Alejandro Padilla Viorato, SEAPAL’s Director of Operations, emphasized that while the current laboratory meets existing standards, the upgrade represents a significant advancement to provide greater assurance to residents, tourists, and businesses about water quality and wastewater management.

“This certification will be a critical milestone for 2025, strengthening public confidence in the quality of drinking water and the environmental monitoring of water bodies,” Padilla stated.
