The Río Cuale Municipal Market has undergone its first full-scale deep cleaning, thanks to the combined efforts of local vendors, municipal staff, and more than 100 dedicated volunteers. The team removed over 350 kilos of waste, revitalizing one of the city’s most beloved public markets.

The cleanup effort, launched under Mayor Luis Munguía’s administration, is part of a broader initiative to upgrade Puerto Vallarta’s municipal markets. In addition to scrubbing down the market’s interior and exterior, teams cleared debris and trimmed vegetation along the banks of the Río Cuale.

This is the first time the market has seen such an intensive cleanup. It’s the latest in a series of similar improvements at six other markets across the city since October. Next up is the Emiliano Zapata Market.
