The General Directorate of Citizen Protection and Firefighters of Nayarit has issued a red flag alert for several beaches in the region, warning of hazardous sea conditions and implementing temporary closures. The announcement, made before noon on November 22, highlights strong rip currents and high waves in affected areas, making the sea unsafe for swimming or water activities.

Among the impacted beaches are Guayabitos in Compostela and Lo de Marcos and Bucerías in Banderas Bay. In Guayabitos, lifeguards have emphasized particularly dangerous currents. Meanwhile, nearby beaches such as Los Ayala and Chacala are under yellow flag warnings, permitting access but urging swimmers to remain cautious.

In San Blas, conditions vary. Beaches like Las Islitas are open under green flag warnings, signaling safe conditions, while others, including Las Brujas and Nuevo Muelle, remain under yellow flag advisories.

Safety Guidelines for Visitors and Residents

Authorities are urging beachgoers to heed flag warnings and avoid entering the water at red-flagged beaches. Areas with lifeguards are recommended for added safety.

“Respect the flag warnings to ensure your safety,” a spokesperson advised. “Your cooperation helps prevent accidents and creates a safer environment for everyone.”
