Puerto Vallarta has emerged as the most expensive city to rent an apartment in all of Latin America, with the average monthly rent reaching $1,095.79 USD, or just over 20,000 Mexican pesos, as of August 14. This puts the Jalisco city at the top of the list of the 10 priciest cities to live in across the region.

A study by Numbeo, released in late April this year, highlights that Mexico dominates the list, with four cities among the most expensive. Monterrey and Mexico City rank just behind Puerto Vallarta, with average rents of $1,095.79 and $1,029.59 USD per month, respectively.

Other cities featured in the top rankings include Panama City ($938.33 USD), San Jose, Costa Rica ($691.45 USD), Guadalajara ($682.17 USD), and Querétaro ($634.75 USD). The study also evaluated other factors such as the cost of living, healthcare, traffic, pollution, and safety, shedding light on the economic challenges residents face in these urban areas.

This data underscores the rising cost of living in several Mexican cities, particularly in Puerto Vallarta, raising important questions about the accessibility and quality of life in these urban centers.
