Puerto Vallarta is set to welcome locals and visitors alike with a packed lineup of cultural, athletic, and culinary events this spring and summer. From scenic marathons and food festivals to vibrant LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations, the city will showcase its rich traditions, world-class cuisine, and artistic heritage throughout the season.
Running with a View
On April 6, the sixth annual Puerto Vallarta Marathon will take runners along a newly designed course, starting and finishing at Puerto Mágico. Participants will pass through colorful neighborhoods and along the city’s picturesque coastline. The event also features a 21K Half Marathon, as well as 5K and 10K races. Sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), it serves as a qualifying event for major races like the Boston Marathon. An expo will accompany the race, adding to the festive atmosphere.
A Celebration of Mexico’s Culinary Traditions
Also on April 6, food lovers can indulge in the eighth annual Feria del Taco Fest at the Puerto de Luna Hotel. More than 40 taco varieties—ranging from traditional carnitas and suadero to seafood specialties—will be available, alongside craft beer, mezcal tastings, and live music. With free admission, the festival is an open invitation to savor one of Mexico’s most iconic dishes.
Folklore and Dance at FESTVA
From May 2-9, Puerto Vallarta will host the 19th annual Vallarta Azteca Festival (FESTVA), the country’s largest folkloric dance showcase. Performers from various Mexican states, as well as groups from Central and South America and Europe, will take the stage at Los Arcos Amphitheater and Teatro Vallarta Theater. Free public performances will bring traditional dance and cultural exchange to the forefront.
Restaurant Week: A Culinary Showcase
From May 15 to June 10, Restaurant Week by Vallarta Lifestyles will highlight the city’s vibrant food scene with three-course menus priced between $25 and $34 USD at some of Puerto Vallarta’s top restaurants. Featuring both renowned chefs and emerging culinary talents, the event promises innovative and seasonal cuisine.
Vallarta Pride: A Celebration of Diversity
From May 17-25, Vallarta Pride will bring the city to life with parades, beach parties, concerts, and cultural events under the theme “The Future Has No Gender.” Highlights include the Pride Parade and Block Party in the Romantic Zone, the popular Drag Derby, a pet parade on the Malecón, and the Sunset Beach Party. Art exhibitions and community gatherings will also be part of the festivities. Visitors can enjoy the celebrations while staying at LGBTQ+-friendly accommodations such as Almar Resort, Blue Chairs Resort, and the newly opened Tryst Puerto Vallarta.
Weekly Art and Culture Experiences
Puerto Vallarta’s art scene remains a year-round draw. The Historic Center ArtWalk, running through June 25, showcases 19 galleries featuring local and international artists. Every Thursday until May 8, the Art & Market Marina Vallarta invites visitors to browse handcrafted goods and gourmet treats along the marina. For those interested in public art, Galería Pacífico’s Free Malecón Sculpture Tour offers guided walks exploring the city’s most famous sculptures.
