Various protest activities were carried out yesterday in opposition to animal abuse, including a National March Against Animal Abuse.

According to the national Animal Protection Law, animal abuse is defined as “any fact, act, or omission of the human being, which can cause pain or suffering, affect animal welfare, endanger life of the animal or seriously affect its health, as well as the overexploitation of its work.”

It seeks to eradicate the cruelty that animals experience in the streets, shows, zoos, shelters, and even in their own homes.

A demonstration was held in Puerto Vallarta, with the participation of PV Unidos por los
Animales and Proyecto Rescatando Amor, among others. They met at Hidalgo Park at 11am to begin the march shortly before 11:30am, bound for Los Arcos del Malecon.

Attendees were asked to wear orange clothing or objects as a sign of the movement,
but some chose to wear black to represent mourning.

During the demonstration, the participants carried signs with messages of respect for animals. Some also brought stuffed animals or animal puppets with them, and painted faces with the appearance of different species.

Finally, while the attendees were gathered on the boardwalk, a talk was given on veganism and its importance in the movement against animal abuse.
