More than 1,500 OXXO stores across Jalisco now function as “Pulse of Life” zones, directly connected to the state’s C5 command center. Governor Pablo Lemus announced that the convenience store chain has signed an agreement with the state government to provide safe spaces where women facing danger can receive immediate assistance.
As part of Jalisco’s broader Pulse of Life strategy to improve responses to gender violence, each participating OXXO branch will have staff trained to activate an emergency button and initiate the protection protocol. Once pressed, the alert is sent straight to the C5 for rapid police deployment.
In a message shared on social media, Lemus noted that stores throughout all 125 municipalities are already equipped to send these alerts. He emphasized that the initiative aims to offer quick, reliable support to women seeking help inside any OXXO location.
“The staff will press the emergency button to connect directly with our C5,” the governor explained, adding that workers have received specialized training to guide and protect women until authorities arrive.
Lemus also urged residents to spread the word about the program so that more women know they can use OXXO stores as safe points. With the new agreement, the chain becomes part of the state’s expanding network of secure locations designed to strengthen immediate assistance and improve police response in situations of gender-based violence.
