According to the social networks of the Civil Protection and Fire Unit of the Municipality of Compostela in Nayarit, a 3-ton flower truck overturned into a ravine early Monday morning at kilometer 52 of the Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta highway in the section known as Ramal a Compostela. Eight of the passengers, three men, three women, and two minors, died. Twenty people were injured.

“They were coming to work. The conditions of the truck, and perhaps the lack of skill of the driver, caused this unfortunate accident,” declared Pedro Núñez, director of Civil Protection of Nayarit, confirming that there were 30 people on the truck coming from Puebla and going to Nayarit to sell flowers. He said that the truck was not suitable for carrying people.

The 20 injured were taken to a hospital in Compostela. They were later taken to another one in Tepic.

On April 29, a truck that was traveling from the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (ZMG) to Guayabitos on Federal Highway 200 ran out of brakes, plunging into a 15-meter-deep ravine.
