Robbery of a bank in Puerto Vallarta led to a manhunt and shooting that ended in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. In the pursuit, three police cars crashed at different points.
Around 3:00 pm yesterday, a man entered the Banamex branch located at Francisco Villa y Los Tules in the Jardines Vallarta neighborhood. He lined up like the other clients. When he got to the window, he threatened the cashier to give him money.
Once he got it, he ran out of the bank and boarded a gray Passat car with Guanajuato license plates, in which two other subjects were waiting for him, and escaped.
Municipal police officers launched a chase. Upon reaching the intersection of Prisciliano Sánchez Avenue and Grandes Lagos Avenue, a public security patrol car that was pursuing the assailants crashed into a taxi, without causing any injuries.
The suspects escaped to Nayarit, so other policemen continued the chase, and requested the support of the authorities of the neighboring state. The suspects fired weapons several times at the policemen, who repelled the attack.
Upon arriving at the entrance to the Costa Coral subdivision, in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, another exchange of shots took place. At this point, the PT273 patrol intercepted them, and collided head-on with the vehicle.
The driver was arrested, and officers seized the money stolen, estimated at 11,000 pesos.
The subject said that he met his two accomplices on the Las Juntas cruise ship. They fled on foot, but were apprehended minutes later by police.
