Mexico’s minimum wage per day will increase by 20% starting January 1, 2023.
The basic wage for an eight-hour day will increase from 172 pesos (approximately $ 8.60 USD) to 207 pesos ($10.35 USD) in the greater part of the nation. This is equivalent to 1,052 pesos a month.
The exception is in 44 municipalities on the northern border with the United States, where the increase will be from 260 to 312 pesos a day.
Four years ago, when President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took office, the minimum wage stood at 88 pesos a day.
