In the wake of Hurricane Erick’s destruction in southern Mexico, the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) has launched the Relief Phase of the Navy Plan through the Twelfth Naval Zone, headquartered in Puerto Vallarta. The focus is on delivering aid to communities in Guerrero and Oaxaca, two of the states most severely affected.
To support the relief efforts, three official donation centers have been set up across Puerto Vallarta. According to Navy press release 013/2025, these centers are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and are accepting essential supplies from the public.
The collection points are:
-
Twelfth Naval Zone Headquarters – Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio 2701, Educación neighborhood
-
Puerto Vallarta Naval Hospital – Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio 2801, Educación neighborhood
-
Puerto Vallarta Naval Museum – Calle Zaragoza 4, Centro District (a convenient stop for locals and tourists alike strolling the Malecón)
At these locations, individuals can donate non-perishable food items and hygiene products, which will be sent directly to hurricane victims. Semar has clarified that clothing and shoes will not be accepted.

The Navy encourages everyone to contribute what they can, emphasizing that all collected items will go to families who have lost homes, belongings, or access to basic services.
This effort is part of Plan Marina, Mexico’s long-standing emergency response strategy for natural disasters, including hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.
While authorities continue to assess the full extent of the damage in Guerrero and Oaxaca, early reports confirm widespread destruction to homes, infrastructure, and essential services. Community support—through both individual and institutional donations—will be vital in helping displaced families recover.
For residents and visitors in Puerto Vallarta, these donation centers offer a tangible way to help. As Navy officials note, even a small contribution can make a big difference.
