The Las Juntas bridge and interchange project in Puerto Vallarta is set to be inaugurated by the end of September 2025, according to David Miguel Zamora Bueno, head of the Jalisco State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP). During a visit to the area, Zamora led a supervision tour of the construction work along Francisco Medina Ascencio Boulevard.
As part of a broader infrastructure plan to improve connectivity in northern Puerto Vallarta, Zamora announced that a total of 2.226 billion pesos will be invested. This includes the construction of the new Amado Nervo Interstate Bridge over the Ameca River, which will link Puerto Vallarta with Banderas Bay. Construction on that bridge is expected to begin in mid-June.
Of the total investment, 700 million pesos will come from the federal government for the Amado Nervo Bridge, while the state government will allocate 1.72 billion pesos for the Las Juntas interchange and related roadwork, including a new bridge connecting to Nayarit via Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue. This new configuration will eliminate the current junction leading to Highway 544.
In addition, the state government has begun rehabilitation and maintenance work on the highway to Mascota. Future phases will include the closure of traffic signals near the Bus Station and along Palma Real Avenue to streamline traffic flow.
Engineer Zamora confirmed that the Las Juntas bridge will be fully completed by late September. He also shared plans for the 2026 budget, which includes funding to build return lanes near the Bus Station to ease congestion.
Zamora highlighted contributions from private entities such as Grupo Ideal, which has invested 200 million pesos for road integration work, and the Airport Group, which has contributed approximately 278 million pesos to the effort.
“As of the end of September, Vallartans will be able to enjoy the first stage of this project—a completed bridge, improved urban design, and better connectivity throughout the area,” said Zamora.
He added that the federal government has committed to starting construction of the Amado Nervo Bridge (previously known as the Federation Bridge) within the next month and a half.
Zamora was joined by Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus and Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía during the inspection. The mayor emphasized the importance of the project for the city’s growth and thanked the governor for the collaborative efforts between the municipal, state, and federal governments to bring these improvements to life.
