A coordinated enforcement operation led by the Transit Authority has resulted in the seizure of 122 motorcycles in its first week. The Joint Operations Base (BOM) initiative brings together multiple agencies, including the 12th Naval Zone, Municipal Police, and State Police.
The crackdown targets motorcyclists who fail to meet legal requirements for:
– Valid registration
– Current driver’s license
– Active insurance policy
– Mandatory helmet use
Under the Jalisco State Mobility Law, riding without a helmet now results in vehicle impoundment (Article 385-1-XVII) rather than just a fine (Article 363-1-XI), a change prompted by rising accident rates.
Enforcement operations have focused on several neighborhoods including:
– El Pitillal
– Ixtapa
– Villa de Guadalupe
– San Esteban
– Volcanes
– Brisas del PacĂfico
The multi-agency approach aims to both reduce traffic accidents and enhance public safety through increased enforcement of vehicle regulations.
