This year, Jalisco will promote new investments in technology companies to settle in the Municipality of Puerto Vallarta in order to diversify the sources of job creation, and not depend so much on tourism, said the Secretary of Economic Development, Ernesto Sánchez Proal.
During the start of operations of the Didi Food application in this municipality, Sánchez said that the companies that are already in the entity may be able to move some of their operations to PV, or that the new ones arriving this year and the next could consider that also.
“We are starting an interesting program to support Puerto Vallarta, so that it does not depend only on tourism. We have already spoken with several technology companies, especially software development, so that they can establish operations in Puerto Vallarta, which is a very attractive place for them,” he said.
The intention is that companies can move engineers to that municipality to develop the software, or “hire Puerto Vallarta resident engineers, or both. We know that a site becomes very vulnerable when they have a unique economic vocation, and we want to take advantage of this great attraction from Puerto Vallarta ”for companies from California, Boston, Texas, Europe, and Asia to arrive.
“We are aware of the effects that the pandemic had in different sectors, specifically in tourism and restaurants. Platforms like this help to ensure that the impact is not so strong in this restaurant niche,” he said.
