While China leads the world in semiconductor production, Jalisco is positioning itself to be a strong competitor. Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro recently visited Spain on a working tour aimed at strengthening Jalisco’s role as a hub for technology and economic growth.

During the visit, Lemus emphasized the collaboration between Jalisco and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC), a key player in artificial intelligence and semiconductor research. With Jalisco already controlling 70% of Mexico’s semiconductor market, the state is working to become a benchmark in Latin America.

Governor Lemus also met with BSC Director Mateo Valero and Ulises Cortés, Coordinator of the High-Performance Artificial Intelligence Group. Their discussions centered on joint innovation in advanced technologies, focusing on data processing and AI development.

The tour also aimed to promote Jalisco’s tequila industry in Europe. Agreements were signed with Spanish organizations to support sustainability and expand Jalisco’s presence in the European market. Lemus additionally explored ways to boost tourism between Guadalajara and Madrid, leveraging the direct flight connection.

Through this visit, Jalisco seeks to attract foreign investment and enhance its global image as a forward-thinking, competitive region. It marks a strategic move to deepen international ties and drive economic development.
