Accompanied by two local people concerned about the image and environmental situation of their surroundings, they decided to undertake this cleaning project, starting at 8 in the morning. About 30 people, mostly from the United States and Canada, joined with gloves and garbage bags, traveling approximately one kilometer to collect all visible waste, setting an example for all Mexican residents.
Rodolfo Retana, one of the two Mexicans who participated in the cleanup, shared his discontent at seeing how unconsciously people throw garbage in the place.
He said, “As neighbors, we are tired of so much garbage. Sometimes we want to keep clean, but it is difficult. There is a lot of construction trash and general waste. People, instead of taking their garbage to a designated place, simply throw it wherever they can reach.”
He also highlighted his admiration for foreigners, who, despite not being natives of this country, do everything possible to keep the area clean.
“They usually organize these calls frequently, and I have seen them enthusiastic about supporting and carrying out altruistic work,” he added.
The only obstacle they encountered during the cleaning day was the debris, since they did not have the means to lift bags containing stones, glass, and some abandoned furniture. They hope that municipal public services personnel will soon come to remove this material that the garbage truck cannot take away.
This initiative highlights the importance of collaboration between local and foreign residents to preserve a clean and healthy environment for all.
