Estero El Salado could reopen its doors by mid-January, after being closed for more than 2 years due to the pandemic and to improvement works being carried out inside.
Director Jaime Alberto Torres said that the works at the entrance to the estuary are about 90% completed, so normal operations could restart in mid-January.
He added that these works, developed by the state government, are not detrimental to the protected area, as has been speculated in different environmental sectors. On the contrary, they will help to give the place a better appearance for those who wish to know this “lung” of the city.
