A federal judge has charged Moisés G, alias “El Moy”, a leader of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) in Puerto Vallarta, who was arrested a week ago along with his brother-in-law Saúl Alejandro N, “El Chopa”, who was allegedly responsible for the assassination of former Governor Aristóteles Sandoval.

The opening of the criminal process against “El Moy” is for his probable responsibility in crimes against health, carrying weapons only authorized for the Army, and operations with resources of illicit origin, facts for which he is being investigated by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in Organized Crime Matters.

On April 22, Moises G was arrested by the National Guard in the vicinity of the port, after both alleged criminals opened fire on federal security authorities.

When he was arrested, Moisés had five small arms, two rifles, 123 cartridges, and eight magazines, as well as 3,040 dollars and 6.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, reported the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).

In the same confrontation, “El Chopa” (lieutenant of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”, leader of the CJNG) was arrested, who later died from a gunshot wound and multiple injuries from the crossfire with the GN.

“El Moy” is considered a highly dangerous criminal, which is why the Ministry of National Defense reported that, in order to make him available to federal authorities, a security operation was deployed to transfer him to the FGR delegation in Guadalajara. A helicopter-borne reaction force was organized, using a UH-60 helicopter belonging to the Mexican Armed Forces, to carry out the transfer.

The federal judge decided to charge him for the aforementioned crimes, setting a period of four months for the investigation and, as a precautionary measure, imposed informal preventive detention at the Center for Social Readaptation (Cereso) at Puente Grande, Jalisco.

Days later, on April 28, Sedena reported the kidnapping of two military women in the same area, who had allegedly been kidnapped by members of the CJNG. Security forces from the three levels of government deployed a security operation to find the two, who were released hours later.

One of the lines of investigation suggests that the kidnapping was in retaliation for the death of “El Chopa” and the arrest of “El Moy”.

Another line of investigation suggests that the events could be related to Rosalinda G, “La Jefa”, wife of El Mencho, who is currently imprisoned in a Morelos prison for the alleged crime of illicit financial operations for the cartel.
