The most important commemoration in the country, the Cry of Independence, is being represented this year with a series of decorations that are being mocked by residents in Puerto Vallarta.
Residents have complained about the lack of creativity of the authorities in the decorations placed in the main square and the boardwalk, but above all because of how funny they look.
The most talked about case is that of Miguel Hidalgo’s profile, which according to some Vallarta residents, looks more like La Gilbertona , a viral Internet character.
There is also an eagle devouring a snake in a cactus, an emblem that is even embodied in the national flag, but which did not satisfy residents either.
“I’m going to hell with sandals and everything, but it looks like a mutant iguana eating a rotten eel, standing on a green chorizo from Toluca,” says one of the messages.
On the other hand, in the main square they have placed scant tricolor banners, and of the spectacular decorations that amaze tourists, there is little.
