In a brief extraordinary session held Thursday afternoon, the Puerto Vallarta City Council swiftly approved a proposal by Mayor Luis Ernesto Munguía González to move forward with street paving projects under the 2025 fiscal year. The session, which lasted just five minutes, resulted in unanimous approval from the 15 council members in attendance—Councilwoman Erika Yesenia García was absent due to health reasons.
The agreement authorizes the execution of public works funded through the Empedrados Program for Economic Reactivation in the Municipalities, a state initiative aimed at infrastructure improvement and job creation. The mayor, along with the city’s trustee and treasurer, were also authorized to sign contracts with the Jalisco State Government’s Secretariat of Agriculture and Rural Development (SADER) and to use incoming state funds as project guarantees.
Mayor Munguía noted that the program will benefit several neighborhoods across Puerto Vallarta by modernizing local streets. Planned improvements include the installation of sidewalks, cement-set cobblestones, and paving stones—features designed to support both mobility and environmentally friendly infrastructure.
