Puerto Vallarta’s iconic Malecón was disrupted on Sunday when private vehicles flooded the pedestrian promenade, turning it into an impromptu party zone. From 6:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., the typically tranquil boardwalk was filled with cars, loud music, and alcohol, leaving local residents and business owners in shock. Despite numerous complaints, authorities failed to intervene, with traffic patrols seen passing by without taking action.

The event, known as the Third National Round 2024, was organized by Clubes Unidos, who invited people via social media to showcase their cars and trucks on the Malecón, waving Mexican flags. The gathering began at 4:00 p.m. at the entrance to Marina Vallarta and culminated at the boardwalk near the Lighthouse, where participants continued their noisy celebration.

This activity not only violated regulations that govern the use of Puerto Vallarta’s boardwalk, which prohibit vehicle access and the consumption of alcohol in public spaces, but it also caused damage to the urban infrastructure. The State Government is currently working on rehabilitation efforts for the Malecón due to its ongoing deterioration.

Residents and visitors expressed frustration, reporting that cars and trucks blared loud music, while their occupants drank beer and other alcoholic beverages. The party atmosphere caused traffic congestion and effectively turned the boardwalk into a makeshift bar and parking lot for hours.

Despite numerous citizen complaints, local authorities took no action to stop the disruption.
