Firefighters from Boulder and Denver, Colorado have donated 130 complete sets of firefighting equipment to Puerto Vallarta’s Civil Protection and Firefighters department. The donation, coordinated through Operation International Firefighters 5280, is valued at approximately eight million pesos.
The comprehensive equipment package includes essential gear such as self-contained breathing apparatus, face shields, helmets, jackets, gloves, pants, and boots. Jorge Misael López Muro, Puerto Vallarta’s director of Civil Protection and Firefighters, emphasized that this equipment will enhance their ability to respond effectively to emergencies while protecting both citizens and firefighters.
Manuel García from the Boulder Fire Department worked with Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía to facilitate the donation. The mayor, who also acknowledged Luis Cedillo from the Denver Fire Department for his role in the initiative, highlighted how this contribution adds to recent improvements in the city’s public safety infrastructure, including new vehicles for Public Safety and Traffic departments.
The donation comes at an opportune time as the department prepares for the upcoming Easter and Holy Week holiday period, during which emergency response capabilities are particularly critical. Local authorities anticipate further equipment additions and training opportunities to continue strengthening Puerto Vallarta’s emergency response capabilities for both tourists and residents.
