The Secretary of Transportation (Setran) announced the digital version of the driver’s license in the state, which can be downloaded from an application for mobile phones with Android and iOS operating systems starting on August 15.
The Secretary of Transportation, Diego Monraz, stressed that the state will be the first nationwide to have the electronic signature for greater driver safety.
He said, “Now it can be a digital license. From your cell phone, you can have your driver’s license with the same validity as we have it on this plastic. We will be the first state with digital signature.”
Gabriel Ramírez, director of Driver’s Licenses and Registration, pointed out that, among the benefits are the greater ease of verifying license data and avoiding falsifications of this document.
He said, “No longer carry the physical license. Also validate that we do not have false licenses. By reading the QR code, you will be able to verify the data, and with this, it will be more practical to have the license.”
To obtain the digital version of the driver’s license:
- Have a valid physical license.
- Download the “Licencia Digital” app of the State Government.
- Read the QR code found on the physical license
- Identify yourself through facial recognition.
- Enter the code sent by text message (SMS), or email to download it.
The digital version can be obtained from the moment the person completes the driver’s license process. Setran clarified that there will be no cost to obtain the digital version of the app.
Public transport buses and taxi drivers are the only exceptions, and must continue to carry physical licenses.
