President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) stated during his morning press conference yesterday that, by the end of next year, Mexico will have one of the best health systems in the world.
He guaranteed that medical care, all medications (not just the basic ones) and studies will be free, and affirmed that there is no problem with the budget, that it will be enough to cover everything.
He said, “We are building the entire health system, and we are going to put it first, and it is my commitment: by the middle of next year, by the end of that year, we will have 12 states (under the IMSS Welfare program). That’s why we have to bring Cuban doctors.
“We want to leave a first-rate health system. I say it again because I am also a man of challenges and of words. We are going to have one of the world’s best public health systems as of the end of next year, because all this, medical care, all the medicines, not only the basic ones, the studies are going to be free. And I inform the people, or I reiterate, the budget is enough for us. We have no problem because there is no corruption, and that is why we can guarantee the right to health.”
