Yesterday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) announced that his government is already caring for the population affected by category 4 hurricane Lidia, which made landfall in Jalisco on Tuesday.
“From this day, the federal government authorities will tour the most affected municipalities in Jalisco, Tomatlán, and Autlán de Navarro with the purpose of listening to the needs of the population, and identifying damage to housing and infrastructure,” he stated during the morning press conference. .
Meanwhile, through his networks, AMLO affirmed that they would not spare resources to serve the population.
The head of the National Civil Protection Coordinator, Laura Velázquez Alzúa, explained to AMLO that there are currently 45 shelters installed, which are housing 171 people.
Likewise, she explained that members of the National Defense Secretariats have been deployed (Army), the Navy, Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), the National Guard, the National Coordination of Civil Protection, the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), and the National Water Commission (Conagua).
The human and material resources at the service of people are:
- 32,293 personnel from the different federal agencies.
- 741 vehicles
- 4 community kitchens
- 9 aircraft
- 13 boats
- 403 specialized equipment: ambulances, emergency plants, lighting towers, tanker trucks, desilting trucks, water treatment plants and water pumps.
The official shared that the SICT is making progress in removing trees and poles, as well as debris on federal highway 200 and state highways 554 and 556, so that the distribution of humanitarian aid by the Armed Forces arrives as soon as possible.
She revealed that the CFE has restored the service by 22%, so the interruption is partial in Puerto Vallarta, while the municipalities of La Huerta and Cabo Corrientes are still without power.
Regarding the damage, she reported that a regional hospital in Autlán, Jalisco suffered severe flooding, and reported the overflowing of rivers and streams, such as Cangrejo and Coajinque in the state. There are two injuries and one death from a falling tree in Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit.
