A tragic bee attack claimed the life of a man in his 40s on Monday afternoon in the Coapinole neighborhood of Puerto Vallarta.

Emergency services were alerted through a 911 call reporting a man who had been severely stung by a swarm of bees near the intersection of 24 de Febrero and Guatemala streets. Firefighters and municipal paramedics arrived quickly, finding the victim lying on the street, still surrounded by the insects.

Despite the danger, rescuers attempted to provide first aid, but the man showed no signs of life. His body was covered to prevent further stings, while firefighters used specialized equipment to disperse the swarm. Municipal Police cordoned off the area until Investigative Police and SEMEFO personnel arrived to recover the body.

Local residents reported that the bees had been unusually aggressive since early morning, though it remains unclear whether others were stung during the incident.

Volunteer firefighter Alexander Araujo Zepeda, who lives nearby, recounted that he heard cries for help and rushed out wearing his jacket to assist. He managed to pull the victim away from the swarm but said the venom had already taken its toll.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the swarm’s behavior, and are urging residents to exercise caution in the area until the situation is fully under control.
