A man wanted in the United States on multiple counts of child sexual abuse has been arrested in Puerto Vallarta. The suspect, identified as Patrick “N,” was detained near the city’s malecón area in a joint operation involving municipal police, the Mexican Army, and immigration authorities.
According to Puerto Vallarta’s public security department, the arrest was the result of a coordinated surveillance effort initiated after U.S. authorities submitted a formal request for assistance. Once intelligence confirmed the suspect’s location in the city, local officers launched a targeted operation.
Patrick “N” was approached by police officers after they spotted someone matching the suspect’s description. He allegedly reacted aggressively when contacted, leading to his arrest for disorderly conduct. A subsequent background check confirmed his identity and revealed an active arrest warrant issued by the Superior Court of San Bernardino County, California.
Serious Charges Across Multiple States
The suspect is accused of multiple incidents of child sexual abuse, with investigations linked to both California and Alabama. U.S. authorities describe the charges as grave, involving the rape of minors—a felony under federal and state law. The seriousness of the case prompted a coordinated cross-border search that ultimately led to his capture on Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Extradition Process in Motion
Following the arrest, Puerto Vallarta police notified Mexico’s National Migration Institute (INM), which has since taken custody of the suspect. The INM has initiated extradition procedures under the terms of existing bilateral agreements with the United States.
Mexican officials have stated that the extradition process will fully adhere to legal protocols and ensure the suspect’s rights are respected while facilitating his transfer to face trial in the U.S.
No timeline has been given for the extradition, but authorities emphasized that international cooperation mechanisms are functioning as intended in this case.
Officials Praise Cross-Border Coordination
Puerto Vallarta’s public security commission issued a statement reaffirming its commitment to inter-agency and international collaboration in safeguarding public safety.
“This arrest underscores the importance of rapid information sharing and cooperation between law enforcement agencies at all levels,” said a city security representative. “Puerto Vallarta is committed to identifying and intercepting individuals who pose a risk to the public.”
The Jalisco Attorney General’s Office has not released additional details about the arrest or whether Patrick “N” will face charges in Mexico before extradition. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have pledged continued coordination with U.S. counterparts to ensure the suspect is brought to justice.
