Puerto Vallarta is set to host the sixth edition of the Mexican Beach Volleyball Championship from May 30 to June 1 at Holi Beach, reaffirming its position as a hub for international sports tourism. Organized by the Jalisco Tourism Secretariat, in coordination with Code Jalisco and the Municipal Sports Council (Comude), the tournament aims to diversify the region’s tourism offerings while showcasing Jalisco’s capacity to host world-class sporting events.
Tourism Secretary María Elena Ortiz emphasized that the event aligns with the state’s strategy to build sustainable tourism beyond sun-and-sand vacations. “This championship highlights both our athletic talent and our hospitality. It positions Puerto Vallarta as a prime destination for beach sports while supporting the local economy,” she said.
The championship will feature over 100 teams from 16 Mexican states, along with invited teams from Canada, Colombia, and Russia. The tournament includes professional open divisions as well as youth categories for under-15 and under-17 players. Spectators can look forward to high-level competition from Mexico’s top-ranked beach volleyball duos, as well as rising stars gaining early exposure on a national stage.
Silvia Guevara, head coach for Code Jalisco’s youth program, highlighted the importance of these youth divisions as a talent pipeline for future national teams. Meanwhile, Comude President Arturo Ramírez noted that trained staff and volunteers will ensure a smooth experience for all attendees.
Beyond the courts, cultural and culinary events, beach-sport expos, and community activities are being planned to enhance the visitor experience and extend stays. Local hotels and restaurants are preparing special packages, while municipal authorities have rolled out public safety and traffic plans to accommodate the influx of fans.
With vibrant matches, cultural celebration, and strong community support, Puerto Vallarta’s beach volleyball championship promises a memorable weekend for both sports lovers and tourists.
