Ongoing problems with garbage collection in downtown Puerto Vallarta are drawing growing concern from residents, business owners, and tourists alike, as uncollected waste accumulates in the city’s historic center.

Particularly affected are streets like Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, as well as the intersections of Emilio Carranza and Aldama, where piles of trash have remained for several days. Locals say garbage trucks haven’t passed through consistently, resulting in foul odors and a visibly deteriorating urban image.

“The trash has been there for three days—no one’s come to pick it up, and now animals are starting to show up,” said one shopkeeper. “It’s disgraceful, especially in a tourist area.”

Residents are calling on municipal authorities to take immediate action, warning that the continued neglect could create public health risks, especially with rising temperatures exacerbating the situation.

So far, City Hall has not issued a formal response. However, officials have suggested that garbage collection routes may be reinforced in the coming days to address growing complaints.

Similar issues have been reported in other parts of the municipality, prompting calls for a more effective and sustainable approach to waste management throughout Puerto Vallarta.
