Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus has canceled his scheduled visit to Puerto Vallarta this week due to the ongoing security crisis related to the Izaguirre ranch case in Teuchitlán and recent narco-blockades on the state’s southern coast.

Lemus was expected to attend the Jalisco Council of Industrial Chambers meeting on Thursday, March 20, at the Vallarta International Convention Center. While there were also rumors that he might attend the Gala Vallarta-Riviera Nayarit event on Wednesday night, his presence was never confirmed. Instead, Jalisco Tourism Secretary Michelle Fridman represented the state at the event.

The governor was also scheduled to attend construction project openings in Las Juntas on Friday, March 21, but his team has not confirmed whether these plans are still in place or if the entire trip has been postponed.

The cancellation comes as the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has accused the Jalisco State Attorney General’s Office of omissions in its seizure of the Izaguirre ranch in September 2024, a site where human remains were discovered.

In response to the controversy, Governor Lemus and Jalisco Prosecutor Salvador González have proposed forming a “truth commission” to investigate the events and ensure transparency by allowing access to journalists and civil groups.
