Officials from Jalisco’s Infrastructure and Public Works Secretariat (SIOP) and the municipal government conducted a site inspection Tuesday at the Las Juntas intersection, where construction of a new road junction will commence in late February. The project aims to alleviate traffic congestion between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas.

Public Works Director Edén Castillón Villaseñor announced via social media that preliminary work is already underway, including the paving of Francisco Murguía Street connecting Highway 200 with Highway 544 toward Ixtapa and Las Palmas. Additionally, construction company Mota-Engil has begun completing the short highway exit near the Military Zone in the Airport’s northern section.

The 730-million-peso project, announced by Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro on January 2, includes several major components:
– A main bridge to improve traffic flow from Bahía de Banderas to Puerto Vallarta
– Two elevated connections to Highway 544 toward Ixtapa
– Rehabilitation of areas near Home Depot
– Replacement of a traffic light with a pedestrian bridge

Officials warn that the construction will cause significant traffic disruption along Highway 200 between Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas in the coming months. The comprehensive project represents the state government’s effort to resolve longstanding traffic issues at the intersection, which handles traffic from the main avenue, Highway 200 from Bahía de Banderas, and Highway 544 from Mascota and Ixtapa.
