In the middle of this holiday season, in which Puerto Vallarta has received thousands of people who especially enjoy the beaches, there is an enormous risk when entering Oasis beach, better known as Holi beach.
The entrance street to this busy beach was largely ‘devoured’ by the Pitillal River, which expanded its channel during this year’s rainy season. This caused almost half of the width of the street to be lost, and with it, a large space that functioned as a parking lot.
Today, the edge of the street next to the river is weak and if vehicles are placed there they could cause another landslide, which puts people’s assets at risk.
However, the authorities have not come to cordon off the area, despite the imminent risk.
There is also no signage that warns people about the fragility of the land.
Visitors should be alerted about the risk of parking cars next to the river.
