The traditional Guadalupana Pilgrimages began with great color, flavor and fervor this December 1.
Thirty processions took to the streets of the Center and the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood with their floats, music, dances, traditional costumes, flowers, and candles.
A highly anticipated one is that of the Families of Old Vallarta, where the surnames of the first settlers stand out. They represented the oldest professions of the place, such as the fisherman with his oar. They proudly carried the banners of the city and of the Sacred Heart and the Virgin of Guadalupe. Upon arriving at the church, the singer Shela Ortiz performed some praises.
Later, Mrs. Chala Lepe Macedo recalled the historical moment when in 1945 the painting that is venerated in Puerto Vallarta was taken to the Basilica of Tepeyac, to be retouched with the miraculous ayate of Juan Diego, where the Virgin left her image.
As is customary, the staff of the Playa Los Arcos hotel also opened these festivities. Owner Enrique Carothers was in front in a wheelchair. The procession of the “Héroes de la Patria” primary school, whose children prepared a pre-Hispanic dance, also attracted a lot of attention.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement group and Univa participated, the latter accompanied by a musical group. The Bar Association, the Pelicanos hotel, Univa, Rinconcito Poblano Restaurant, among others, were also present, closing the night at the Vidanta hotel with a large contingent and the representation of the appearance of the Morena Virgin on a huge float.
Families from Vallarta were offering tasty Mexican dishes, as well as fried foods, corn, peanuts, coffee, and other delights for the palate, turning this party into an attraction for everyone’s senses.
