The renowned and admired Cirque Du Soleil raised its big top yesterday in Plaza Patria in Guadalajara for the KOOZA shows starting October 14th through November 6th.
Jean-François Raymond, director of operations, explained that La Gran Tent has capacity of more than 2,500 people. The four main pillars that support the big tent measure 25 meters each, requiring 550 stakes to support the tent spanning more than 4,505 square meters of asphalt.
The big spectacle of the day was watching 150 people (including one from Guadalajara) raise up the tent at the cry of 1,2,3.
The entire circus production weighs more than 2,000 tons, and travels from city to city in 67 trailers.
KOOZA, by Cirque du Soleil, has been acclaimed around the world since its opening in 2007. More than 8 million spectators have witnessed and admired what the well-known attraction presents. KOOZA is the 20th original creation of Cirque du Soleil since 1984.
Colombian sound engineer Andrés Vázquez said that 80 speakers will be installed inside the Big Top, and promised that: “You will hear very powerful music compared to other shows because this one is more rock, more pop, it has more hype, it has a lot of feeling. Like all Latinos, we add flavor to everything.”
