A shark of considerable size was spotted in Playa Camarones on Saturday afternoon.
Upon noticing its presence, swimmers immediately left the water, and some started filming the unusual sighting.
Authorities came quickly, and brought it ashore, and found that it was about 1.15 meters long, and had a puncture wound in its tail. It was a species called a basking shark. It does not eat humans, and is considered harmless.
It was returned farther out to sea with the help of the parachute service vessel “Garland.”
