In Jalisco, eight out of ten vehicles undergoing Responsible Verification successfully pass on their first appointment, reflecting an increased awareness among drivers about vehicle maintenance and its impact on air quality and public health.

Francisco Javier Sierra Moreno, Director General of the Comprehensive Agency for Emissions Regulation (AIRE), highlighted that even older vehicles from the 60s, 70s, and 80s can pass the test with proper upkeep. Vehicles failing the first attempt are offered a second inspection free of charge, along with recommendations to address emission issues. If additional adjustments are needed, owners have 30 days to make the required fixes and return for another inspection.

Sierra Moreno advised motorists to perform preventive maintenance, such as oil changes and checks on spark plugs, injectors, and tires, before scheduling their verification. For 2025, the Responsible Verification is free with the 900-peso vehicle renewal fee.

The Government of Jalisco also offers a 3×1 program covering renewal, verification, and license plate replacement for a single payment of 900 pesos. More details are available at https://refrendo.jalisco.gob.mx.
