Initially slated for a September 2024 debut, the highly anticipated Arena Guadalajara is now set to open its doors in February 2025. Developers Avalanz Zignia Live, the team behind the Arena Ciudad de México and Arena Monterrey, have confirmed the revised timeline along with an exciting lineup of events.
The 20,000-seat venue, located on the northern periférico where Guadalajara’s old planetarium once stood, has faced significant delays since construction began seven years ago. Work was halted in 2020 due to legal disputes but resumed in November 2022.
The grand opening on February 22 will feature Mexican singer Carlos Rivera, best known for winning the third season of La Academia. The arena’s initial program includes 12 shows, all headlined by Mexican artists, running from February through April.
International acts will follow, with U.S. pop sensation Katy Perry scheduled to perform on May 1 and 2. Tickets for Perry’s concerts range from 850 to 5,000 pesos, with both shows expected to sell out.
Arena Guadalajara is touted as a state-of-the-art facility, described by developers as “dynamic, comfortable, versatile, and avant-garde,” drawing inspiration from the region’s natural landscapes and materials.
While Arena Guadalajara gears up for its debut, Colombian superstar Shakira will perform at Guadalajara’s Akron Stadium on March 16 and 17 as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. This event will give fans an early taste of world-class entertainment in the city ahead of the new arena’s international programming.
With its cutting-edge design and diverse event schedule, Arena Guadalajara is set to become a premier cultural and entertainment destination in Mexico.
